General Knowledge: The Nobel Prize (Class 4‑B)

General Knowledge is an important school subject that helps students learn about the world around them, alongside other academic subjects. Each grade explores different themes and in Class 4‑B, one of the topics covered was the Nobel Prize.

The Nobel Prize is one of the most prestigious international awards, given each year to people who have made remarkable contributions in areas such as science, literature, economics, and peace. These prizes are named after Alfred Nobel, a Swedish chemist and industrialist who invented dynamite. In his will, he dedicated most of his fortune to create the Nobel Prizes to benefit humanity.

Nobel Prize Categories:
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Medicine or Physiology
  • Literature
  • Peace
  • Economics

Winners of the Nobel Prize, called laureates, are selected by expert committees in each category. These committees carefully review the work and achievements of the nominees before making their decisions.

The Nobel Prizes are awarded every year on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death, during a special ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden. The Peace Prize, however, is awarded in Oslo, Norway.

Learning about the Nobel Prize inspires students to appreciate the power of knowledge, creativity, and compassion in making the world a better place.
