The seminar “The Position of Teachers in the Light of Qur’anic Verses and Narrations” was held at Setaragan Zirak School. The program aimed to highlight the significance of teachers from an Islamic perspective, examining teachings from the Qur’an and Hadiths to elucidate their esteemed role. The presenting scholar, referencing Qur’anic verses, emphasized the elevated status of teachers as guides of knowledge and ethics. Teachers were portrayed as intermediaries between humanity and awareness, with responsibilities comparable to those of the Prophets.
In the initial part of the seminar, Qur’anic verses underscoring the value of knowledge and teachers were discussed, including the verse: “Allah will raise those among you who have believed and those who were given knowledge by degrees” (Qur’an 58:11). Prophetic narrations about the virtues of teaching and education were also explored. The scholar emphasized that, in Islam, teachers hold a pivotal role in the spiritual and intellectual development of individuals. Their efforts are highly valued, as they contribute to fostering an enlightened and knowledgeable society. In the concluding session, participants engaged in interactive discussions to share insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by teachers today. Drawing on Islamic teachings, the scholars provided practical suggestions for enhancing the status and recognition of teachers in society.
The seminar offered a meaningful platform to reaffirm the critical role of teachers and to advocate for the protection of their esteemed position within educational and social frameworks.
